Peter roasted a suckling (read "baby") pig for his 40th birthday. He slaved all day over a real wood fire so that family and friends could enjoy a feast that evening. A good time was had by all!
Yes Harold has been very lazy about posting and he is very sorry...Harold is now about 3 1/2 months old, he babbles and reads complex treatises on theoretical physics...(just kidding!). He's really digging all the gifts he's been getting, so thanks.
...at least as busy as you can be at 11 weeks old! Days are full of trying to grab rings and the purple giraffe on his gymni, or trying to get his thumb in his mouth, which he seems to have mastered. Nights are mostly full of sleep, for which his parents are eternally grateful. He's had a few more vistors -- Laura, Chet and Chet II (2 years) Hewitt (who we don't seem to have a photo of!) came for dinner, and Joanne Lin and daughter Tenaya (14 months) spent the night and gave us a preview of life with a full blown toddler! He also attended his first birthday party for Rhys King who turned one. He was the littlest kid there, but baby Sheldahl will soon take over that distinguished place. He's smiling a lot now and almost laughing many times, as well as making lots of great sounds that might someday turn into real communication. :)
The biggest event of the last few weeks was attendance at his first Dodger game on Wednesday, September 20 at Dodger Stadium. Greg Maddux pitched versus the Pirates, and even though the Dodgers lost we all had a great time!
Harry is so popular, even the 100 degree heat of Southern CA in August can't keep them away! Grandpa Warren and Grandma Barbara were here from Bainbridge Island for a few days this week and they were smitten. They treated Harry to his first museum visit at the Norton Simon which he promptly slept through.
Now Aunt Margaret is visiting from Brooklyn and she is loving feeding and cuddling with the little boy. He is giving lots of smiles now, though we are still working hard to capture one on film.
SHAKE!..............AND BAKE!!!! That was soooo good! How did I think of that?! All I can say is....go see Talladega Nights! Call me El Diablo....in Spanish it means some kind of fighting chicken or something....
Harold, who we have dubbed "The Greatest Human Being EVER" is still here making dirty diapers, but hey,he is AWESOME!!!
Kristen Alexander (on the right), late of Boston MA just visited. She is a really great person to have over after a baby and a great person overall. She is now on the West coast. She really connected with royal Prince Harry!
Yesterday was Harry's one month birthday which we celebrated by going out for Mexican food. He slept through the whole outing, but the rest of us had a good time! He's definitely becoming more alert by the day and has started giving us smiles on occasion -- we have yet to capture one on film, though.
Aunt Liza came to visit last weekend for a few days. Grandma Alice went home today -- Harry says boo-hoo to that :(.
Grandma Alice is here from Boston for 2 weeks and is taking very good care of all of us!
Cousins Stacy, Guy, Briggs (from Mill Valley) and Jenny (from Michigan) were here briefly on their way to Orange County. More visitors are coming this weekend and next month, so stay tuned for more photos of Harry and his fans!
You can call him Harold, you can call him Harry. We use both interchangeably depending on circumstance, though his father prefers Harold and his mother Harry. These photos are of Harry dressed and ready to go home from the hospital and then the arrival home with all the gorgeous flowers we had been sent. We have been home for almost a week now and are starting to get into a routine. Tomorrow we might put Harry in the Baby Bjorn and venture out for a cup of coffee or an ice cream (it is 100 degrees here!)
We have now been home from the hospital for almost 72 hours and are trying to figure out why they let two complete novices bring this precious bundle home with them! Truly, all I can say is WOW – I am completely overwhelmed with joy (and exhaustion) at the birth of Harold. Of course I think he is the most beautiful baby ever and everything he does charms me. I have also been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from family and friends – we are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Many have inquired as to the actual details of the birth. So, for those of you interested in such things click here: Eagle Rock mommy. If words like dilation and effacement mean nothing to you, you’ll probably want to wait until the next posting!
No, Ricky Bobby is not the name. If it's a boy it'll be Flapjack Spud and if it's a girl: Porsche Mercedes. By the way, I read somewhere that sarcasm doesn't always work in blogging.
I think the baby is holding off so we can go see Talladega Nights . Seriously, this movie is so funny I'm laughing already and I haven't even seen it. Anyway, clearly there is still no baby.
Baby seems to be really happy where s/he is at the moment. Yesterday the doctor said that baby's moving in the right direction so it's fine to wait for now. Trying not to go stir crazy, but there's only so much cleaning and organizing one can do!

Somebody in this household is a bit of a sports fan and wanted to remind everyone that a little school called Oregon State University won a NATIONAL championship in baseball (America's pastime) this evening....no baby yet.
